Michelle Philip no longer teaching at Colorado Academy of Art

Michelle Philip is not teaching at CAA anymore. She has a small group of students that meet once a week at her studio. If you would like to take drawing or painting classes with Michelle, please email her at Michelle.w1@comcast.net. There is one opening available for August, cost is $120 for the month. Scheduling priority is given to ongoing students, so once you have a place in class, you will not lose your spot.

Bighorn Sheep Lamb oil painting by Colorado artist Michelle Philip

6x 8" oil on canvas mounted on panel.

SOLD
We saw a herd of Bighorns on the shelf road between Cripple Creek and Canon City, Colorado. The lambs were scampering about as only lambs can. Some of the young males had their own bachelor herd and were hanging arond down on the road while the rest of the herd grazed the steep slopes. Maybe that is their version of going to the mall.

Oil painting of Black Angus cow and calf by animal artist Michelle Philip

8x 10" oil on canvas mounted on panel.

There is a herd of Black Angus cattle in a pasture near where I board my horses. I love watching the calves grow up, and I often stop to visit with them over the fence. The babies are a hilarious combination of curious and afraid. Eventually the curiousity wins out. I feel that I captured that curious but ready to bolt look in this young steer.
