Red chalk on prepared paper. It is always a challenge to draw hands in unusual positions.

Koala Bears

I am leaving for New Zealand in less than 2 weeks. Excited? Me? Yeah!!!

I drew Koala Bears at the museum today in honor of my trip. (I had to settle for Australian animals because they don't have any NZ critters.)

This drawing is carbothello pastel pencils on prepared paper.

Golden Cheetah

Another encaustic painting. This is 6" x 8" encaustic and 23Kt. gold leaf on panel. I was trying to convey the camouflage aspect of being a cheetah - catching the golden light on the savannah.

Friesian

Watercolor - SOLD
I went to Cheyenne Wyoming today to see the Western Spirit Juried show. The work was very mixed, but there were some really beautiful paintings there. I especially liked the watercolors of Don Weller. He paints small shapes of color that describe the planes of his horses and people with a jewel-like but loose accuracy. His style is unique, very sophisticated.
